Protecting the oceans
is our mission
We envision a future where humans can live in harmony with the sea and its inhabitants, without compromising its delicate balance. That’s why we promote projects that protect the oceans and all forms of life within them.
About us
Blue Conservancy is a non-profit organization founded in 2009 with the goal of safeguarding marine ecosystems. Our mission is to protect the oceans from human practices that threaten their survival.
Activities such as overfishing, pollution, habitat loss, and excessive human pressure are driving many marine species to extinction, particularly in the Mediterranean Sea, which, according to the FAO, is now one of the most overexploited seas in the world.
We are fishing faster than fish can reproduce and dumping an unprecedented amount of waste into the sea. Furthermore, we are destroying our coastlines by building tourism infrastructures such as beaches, hotels, roads, and ports, leading to the loss of marine and coastal habitats.
Oceans produce more than 50% of the oxygen we breathe, absorb about 25% of the carbon dioxide produced by human activities, regulate the climate, and host a wide range of species, many of which are found nowhere else.
For this reason, our organization strongly believes that protecting the oceans requires more than just safeguarding protected species. A greater effort is needed to defend those species that are not protected but are vital for maintaining a high level of biodiversity.
Protecting the oceans means protecting the blue planet. That’s why we envision a future where humans can coexist with the sea without compromising its balance, and why we fight every day to protect the oceans and all forms of life within them.

Principi associativi
To achieve the goals we have set for ourselves — the protection of the oceans and the conservation of marine ecosystems — we believe it is essential to adopt an ethical and moral code based on respect for nature and an eco-centric vision, where human beings no longer see themselves as the center of the universe, but as an integral and equal part of the living world.
Our code of conduct is founded on fundamental values such as non-violence, respect for nature and animals, mutual trust, and a mutual commitment to common rules of behavior. We ask anyone who wishes to become part of our organization to embrace and uphold these principles, so that together we can build a better future.
At Blue Conservancy, every individual has the right to operate in a peaceful, safe environment that fosters the development of the projects promoted by the association, all aimed at protecting the oceans.
The organization is committed to promote values such as integrity, through ethical and professional conduct inspired by common principles. Below are the key points on which our code of ethics is based:
- Mutual respect among people
- Respect for nature and animals
- Environmental responsibility
- Sustainable and cruelty-free lifestyle
- Promotion of teamwork
- Confidentiality of information
- Financial responsibility
- Impartiality and fairness
- Proper use of the Blue Conservancy name and reputation
- Prohibition of drug and alcohol use
We can do more.
A collective effort is needed to protect all those species that are not currently safeguarded but are crucial for maintaining a high level of biodiversity.
